Tempranillo often causes winemakers some trouble as it is highly susceptible to many diseases. Despite this, plenty winemakers continue to persevere with this varietal, as it is perfect for producing delicious complex single variety and blended wines, packed full of classic Spanish flavours. Grown in the elevated vineyards of Ribera del Duero, Gomaz’s 2013 Joven is bright and its youthful side is on display in this wine, tempered only by dark fruits and the sweet vanilla notes of American oak barrels. This is a gentler version of a Ribera del Duero red. Gormaz 2013 Joven will match beautifully with rosemary roast chicken or pork roast. Drink in the next few years.
